Green Gourmet @ Tea Time: Cabbage Fritters/ Patta Gobhi ke Pakode

Tea time is like a ritual for avi and myself to gossip, laugh, ponder; talk politics, real estate, decor, bolly/holly-wood and what not. We sit on our lovely patio chairs drinking gourmet green tea and munching on munchies. Everyday we pic up a tea bag with different flavor that goes by our mood. We enjoy this 20 mins of time far away for the world of electronics and internet.

This is one of the munchies we munched on one of these days.

Ingredients:-
1 cup of chopped cabbage in medium size
1/4 cup of chickpea flour/besan
1/4 cup of rice flour
1 tsp of red chilli powder
1/4 tsp of caraway seeds/ajwain
1/4 tsp of cumin seeds/jeera
water to bind
salt to taste
oil to deep fry

Ingredients:-
Mix all the ingredients with just enough water to make the wet flours and the masala coat evenly on the chopped cabbage.
The batter should lightly coat onto the cabbage surface.
Heat the oil and deep fry them in small batches until they are cooked and crisp.
Drain the excess oil and dab them with kitchen tissue to get the rest of the surface oil out.
Serve with ketchup.

This recipe goes to my own event Green Gourmet.

Dear Preeti
Very nice Pakodas. I like the detailed description and the finer points you have mentioned to make it crispy. I some times try it with onion and thinly sliced potatoes too.
Now I am going to read all your travelogues on Agra, which I missed.
Thanks for your appreciation at my blog.
Have a nice week ahead

That's what I call gourmet! I love cabbage and I know that I would love this dish.

I got your recent comment on my asparagus dish, and I didn't think to submit that post when I wrote it. I still have a different dish in mind (which should be popping up at some point this week) :)
