Happy Holiday Season and Molten Lava Cake

It is holiday season and we all are awaiting the advent of the new year (2010). After a year full of events and hard work, we all deserve a treat at the end of the year. Thus, I present to you the simplest and most yummiest individual chocolate treat for each of your family member. This is really a chocolate delight and one (from kids to grandpa) would sinfully indulge into it without giving it a second thought. A hit recipe for the perfect season. The yummy chocolate cake on the outside and the center oozes out melted chocolate (hence, the name molten lava cake); it is indeed a heavenly feeling when you take a bite of this cake. Best goes with vanila ice-cream; the hot chocolate and cold ice-cream is perfect to tend to your holiday spirits.

Ingredients (serves 4 people):-
4 ramekins
4 oz Ghirardelli semi-sweet chocolate Baking bar
1 stick of butter
2 eggs
1/3 cup of sugar (or more, depending how sweet you want it)
1/4 cup of All purpose flour
1 tbl spn of oil/butter to grease the ramekins

Method:-
Preheat for 350 F. Grease the ramekins.
Melt the chocolate as per instructions (in microwave or a double boiler). Stir it as it is melting.
Melt the butter with the chocolate after the chocolate is melted.
In a bowl, beat/whisk the sugar and eggs for about 5 minutes with a hand/egg beater.
Add the melted chocolate and butter mixture and blend well with the egg mixture.
Add the APF and beat for another minute.
Pour the mixture in 4 ramekins (till they are 1/2 to 3/4 full as the cake raises a little)
Bake for 11-15 minutes depending on your oven. Mine took 15 minutes. The cake on the outside/circumference out be completely cooked while the center should appear soft.
Cool outside for 2 minutes. Take a butter knife and insert is along the circumference to loosen the cake.
Flip the ramekin upside down on a plate and shake it gently so that the cake falls on the plate on which you plan to serve.
If you are apprehensive about doing the above two steps, you may serve it in the ramekins as it is after the ramekins cool down.

Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year!

Dear Preeti
The name justifies the look too!. I cant recognize the names of some of the ingredients. May be they are not available in Delhi!!
I am sure you are having a great Holiday time.

@ Ushnish,
U can get any baking chocolate bar of 4 oz, ramekins are bowls that can be baked (katori size) and APF is maida. Let me know if you need anything else.

4 oz is half cup (of melted butter or chocolate)

You can get the chocolate bars used for baking from any baker.
