I learnt this yumm recipe from a Sri Lankan friend I met in Leeds. A must try healthy recipe. You can make this recipe with Toor dal also.
Ingredients:-
1 cup of dhuli moon dal/split n shelled green gram
1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
10-15 spinach leaves chopped very finely
1 medium sized tomato+2 green chillies puree
1 medium sized onion chopped
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
4 cloves
1 cardamom
1 inch cinnamon
1 tsp crushed pepper
1 tbl spn oil
1 tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp jeera
salt to taste
Method:-
Heat oil in pan. Add mustard seeds and wait for them to crackle.
Add the jeera,cloves,cardamom, cinnamon, onion and ginger-garlic paste and fry till onions get transparent.
Add the tomato puree, turmeric powder, pepper powder and chopped spinach. cook for 5 minutes.
Add the dal and pressure cook for 2 whistles. (you may also add previously soaked and cooked dal and just boil it with the mixture for 10 minutes).
Serve hot.
