Thanks to shobha Aunty for making my work so easier by telling me that you can make this poriyal grated instead of cutting the beetroot. Beetroot are messy and difficult to cut. Grated works wonders. Saves time and energy!
1 large beetroot grated
1 tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp urad dal/black gram dal
2-3 red chillies (add to the curry broken)
1 tbl spn of oil
2-3 curry leaves.
1/4 tsp of turmeric powder
1/4 cup of grated coconut
salt to taste
Heat the pan with oil
add the mustard seeds and wait for it to crackle.
Add the urad dal, red chillies,turmeric powder and curry leaves. Fry till the urad dal becomes golden brown.
Add the grated beetroot and salt. Fry well till they become cooked and the raw smell goes.
Add the grated coconut and cook for a minute.
